It’s the artefact it is, it’s the artefact it has ever been

Spring thaw, brings outflow mud, ripples, birds
It’s the artefact it is, the artefact it’s ever been,
Ever since: who knows when, when I was a kid.

Strange, my murder runs disorderly in me today
That I should imagine of faces so farther away
I’m movement dimly farther from Minnesota’s horizon
And center voices, echoes, rivers, from afar.

The clouds are country on high, long chromatic
The outflow sounds rouse memories, renewed
Winter stars are absent with season snows
Birds begin to nest in trees and meadows.
